There’s nothing like an experience that awakens the senses and delights from all angles, and from the 1st to the 3rd of August GLOW: Creatures of the Night is set to do just that. Families will love every second of this fantastic event as the parklands surrounding Home of the Arts (HOTA) is transformed into a magical display of lighting installations, projections, music and live performances, and interactive art spaces for the kids.
You’ll light up like a Christmas tree as you become immersed in the delights of creatures appearing from the dark in a rainbow of colour. Wonder as the sky is transformed to mimic the northern lights. Watch mythical stampedes of inflatable horses move through the air.
The kids will be entertained with a visit to the HOTA ArtLab to take part in expressing their creativity, and can run free in the bubble garden, or get involved with the interactive light installations on display.
The Mountain installation by Stalker will offer up jaw dropping acrobatic performances on a huge wall of projected imagery, or visit the Morphology installation and sculpt your own illuminating work of art. You can view the full program here.
You can enjoy a visit to the Garden Food Precinct for a bite to eat, or wander to the Lakeside Bar or Lawn Bar to enjoy a delicious beverage or two. You can also purchase GLOW gourmet picnic hampers which include a selection of cheese, bread, and antipasto for you to enjoy as you sit back on the hill and enjoy the visual spectacle before you.
For those of you that are just visiting the Gold Coast, here’s a little background on HOTA to get you all caught up. This wonderful venue in on Bundall Road in Surfers Paradise and features 17 hectares of art, cultural and civic space that’s a must see on your Gold Coast stay.
It features a large outdoor stage for enjoying live music and entertainment. The cinema features a fantastic range of mainstream, as well as art house and foreign films for your enjoyment. The surrounding parklands includes a swimming hole for the kids to splash around in, plus a playground and walking track around the lake with different art installations to enjoy along the way. Plans are in place for a $60.5 million gallery which is set to be one of the country’s largest regional galleries, and sure to impress.
